Maintenance and warranty

The breakdown that never happens

A serviced unit lasts longer, uses less energy and gives warning before it breaks down. Here's what each plan covers and what it costs.

First things first

Is your unit less than two years old?

It's the only question that decides which plan is right for you: the difference is whether parts are included.

Under 2 years old

Extended warranty

Annual service, regulatory compliance and breakdowns covered with everything included: parts, labour and call-out. Up to 5, 7 or 10 years depending on the unit.

  • A complete annual service of the unit
  • Regulatory compliance: RITE certificate for gas appliances
  • Genuine parts included
  • Labour and call-out included, with no limit on hours

Over 2 years old

Maintenance plan

Annual service, regulatory compliance and breakdowns covered for labour and call-out. Parts, if needed, are quoted before they're replaced.

  • A complete annual service of the unit
  • Regulatory compliance: RITE certificate for gas appliances
  • Labour and call-out included, with no limit on hours
  • Parts quoted before we touch anything

Terms. Both plans are annual. You can cancel whenever you like, at no cost and with no penalty. The 5, 7 or 10 years of the extended warranty are how far the cover can go, not a minimum-term commitment.

Why it pays off

Maintaining your unit costs less than not maintaining it

A well-maintained unit delivers maximum performance with minimum consumption. In a heat pump, dirty filters or a refrigerant pressure outside its range force the unit to work harder for the same output: electricity consumption goes up and performance goes down. In a boiler, proper maintenance means between 15% and 20% lower consumption. In many cases, what you save on your bills is more than the plan costs.

And then there's the other side of it: most December emergencies could have been seen coming in October. A dirty electrode, an expansion vessel with no pressure, a heat exchanger starting to scale up. Things that take ten minutes to spot at a service and cost little to fix, but that in the middle of a cold snap turn into a breakdown and a wait.

Having your unit under warranty doesn't cover you for limescale. The manufacturer's warranty covers manufacturing defects, not wear caused by lack of maintenance. In Mallorca, limescale causes more breakdowns than anything else, and those are charged even if the unit is new.

With a plan, we keep track for you: we let you know when your service is due.

Four reasons, in order

  • Efficiency and savings. Maximum performance with minimum consumption, for heat pumps and boilers alike.
  • The law. Since 2021, gas appliances have required a service with a RITE certificate, under Spain's regulations for heating and cooling installations.
  • Mallorca's water. It's so hard that maintenance is needed more often than on the mainland.
  • Safety. Tightness testing and checks on all the safety devices.

Before: the heating element from a heat pump that hadn't been serviced. That's limescale, and the warranty doesn't cover it. After: a new heating element and magnesium anode.

What we do on a visit

The service, point by point

Fifteen points, which vary by unit. On gas appliances it ends with the RITE certificate, which is the one you'll be asked for.

Boilers and gas water heaters

  • Gas leak check
  • Combustion analysis
  • Cleaning the burner and combustion chamber
  • Bleeding the radiators
  • Adjusting settings to optimise consumption
  • Checking the safety devices

Heat pumps and air conditioning

  • Cleaning filters and heat exchanger coils
  • Checking the refrigerant circuit
  • Checking refrigerant pressures
  • Adjusting settings to optimise consumption
  • Checking the safety devices

Heat pump hot water

  • All of the above, plus:
  • Descaling the storage tank
  • Replacing the magnesium anode and its seal every two years

The anode is the part that sacrifices itself so that the tank doesn't corrode. With Mallorca's water, replacing it in time is the difference between a unit that lasts and one that doesn't.

Ariston units only

Your unit alerts us before it fails

Ariston units connect to the internet over Wi-Fi, and you control them from your phone with the Ariston Net app. But the remote control isn't the interesting part.

If there's a problem, the unit alerts us by itself and in many cases we can deal with it remotely without going out. It also does predictive maintenance: it detects anomalies in operation before they turn into a breakdown.

It's the difference between finding out something's wrong when you run out of hot water, and finding out three weeks earlier.

Remote assistance – the automatic alert to us and remote intervention – is included with both the extended warranty and the maintenance plan.

What it lets you do

  • Switch it on and off and programme it from your phone
  • Automatic alert to us if there's a problem
  • Remote intervention without a visit in many cases
  • Early detection of anomalies

Not just homes

Residential buildings, boiler rooms and industry

When an installation is shared, or when shutting it down costs money, maintenance stops being advisable and becomes mandatory. These plans are tailor-made, after we've seen the installation.

Communities of owners

Central heating and hot water. A single point of contact with the property manager, itemised quotes to take to the owners' meeting and a written report on every job.

Boiler rooms

Scheduled preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance within an agreed timeframe, and the boiler room's records kept up to date for when the inspectors ask.

Hotels and industry

High-demand hot water and higher-output installations, with services scheduled outside the high season.

Questions about the plans

What people ask us most

Why can't my unit have an extended warranty?

Because an extended warranty extends the manufacturer's warranty, and that can only be done while the unit is still under warranty, that is, during its first two years. After that there's no warranty left to extend, but you can still take out the maintenance plan: it covers the same, except parts.

What happens if a part breaks and I don't have the extended warranty?

We send you a quote for the part before touching anything, and you decide. Labour and call-out are included in the plan, so you only pay for the spare part, which is a genuine manufacturer's part.

Is maintenance mandatory?

For gas appliances, yes. Since 2021 the law (BOE-A-2021-4572) has required a periodic service with a certificate under RITE, Spain's regulations for heating and cooling installations, whether the unit is under warranty or not. That certificate is what the authorities, your community of owners, your insurance company and your gas supplier will ask you for.

How many times a year can you come out?

As many as you need: no limit on call-outs or hours. The annual service is one thing and breakdowns are another: breakdowns aren't counted.

What if my unit isn't Ariston or Wolf?

We cover it too. We're the official service centre for Ariston, Wolf, Chaffoteaux and Fleck, but we offer maintenance plans for other brands as well. What we can't offer in that case is the extended warranty, which depends on the manufacturer.

My unit has just been installed. What should I do?

Call us as soon as you can. The extended warranty must be taken out within the first two years, and the sooner you activate it, the more years of full cover you get for the same monthly price.

Tell us what unit you have and we'll tell you which plan applies

All we need is the make, the model and how long it's been installed.
